Fellfarers 80th birthday party in the Hawkshead Beer Hall, Staveley

Having held its first 80th party at High House in May, the club held its end of year party in the Hawkshead Beer Hall in Staveley on Saturday November 29th, and 69 members and guests attended. The results of all the various club and personnal challenges were on display as well as a display of some of the clubs photos from its vast historical collection.

As well as our current club President Gordon Pitt, we also had our previous club president John Peat. Gordon is seen here on the right with his wife Pam opposite, talking to John whose wife Anne is recovering from an operation. We all wish Anne every good fortune in her recovery.

The amazing birthday cake was made and decorated by Joan Abbott, with the decoration includng lots of Fellfarer activities including walking, climbing, canoeing and caving, with the All Terrain Toboggan Trail competitors on the end - below right. Well done Joan.

Fellfarers Way competition

The winning entry for the 'The Fellfarers Way' competition was Mike Palk with the following -

Across Lakeland in five days……….
Day one – Start at K Village and follow the river Kent to almost its source at Kentmere Reservoir.  Camp at the Reservoir.
Day Two – Kentmere Reservoir to Mardale Ill Bell, High Street, The Knott and down to Brothers Water.
Day Three – Hartsop above Howe, Fairfield, Great Rigg, Grasmere
Day Four - Grasmere, Easedale Tarn, Sergeant’s Man, High Raise, Harrison Stickle, Dungeon Ghyll and finish at the ODG.
Day Five – ODG, Mickledon, Roissett Pike, Allen Crags, Glaramara and finish at High House.
Why…because it starts at Kendal with its K Shoes connections and finishes at High House and crosses some of the best Lakeland scenery

80 Climbing Wall Routes Challenge

Colin Hunter suggested to the regular climbers at Kendal Climbing Wall on Thursday evenings that they should have their own challenge - to climb 80 different routes within the Climbing Centre. Mick thought it good idea as well and organised the event for Thursday Nov 27. Twelve members turned up and succeeded in ascending 110 routes in total ranging from F4's to F7's - well done everyone. We'll forget about the comments made about Hugh's rope.
Below from left to right are: Mick, Clare, Kevin, Margeret, Hugh (why are you on your knees Hugh?), Val Hunter, Colin, Val Calder, Mike Wilson, Alan, Wayne, and Mike Palk.
